STEP TWO: Finding Potential AirBnB Partners

Hi there! If you’re just jumped in and you’d like to know about STEP ONE, go to this blog post to get all the details. Then come back over here to learn all about STEP TWO!

This second step is my FAVORITE!  This is where the fun starts.  Once you’ve got your foundational decisions out of the way from step one...you’re ready to start sharing your work, making your intentions clear and connecting with potential partners!  So fun!

The Backstory

Let’s dig into the backstory a little bit.  When I decided I was ready to explore the possibility of an interior design business, I was unsure of how to take that first step.  I ended up getting my certification from Home Staging Resource (to read all about this, you can go to this blog post, where I share all the details).  Once I was certified, I felt a little more confident to step into the design space and say “I belong here”.  But let me be very clear...I think I would have been just as successful without it.  It was more about my mindset than something I actually needed to do in order to be seen as a Designer.  So, if you feel ready...jump in!  If you’d like to have something that certifies you as knowing what you’re doing, I can’t recommend HSR enough.  It was an INCREDIBLE program and I refer people to Audra Slinkey all the time.  Click here if you’d like to learn more about HSR.

The Cozy Dwelling….this one was so much fun to put together! I found that stunning sideboard at one of my favorite local flea markets. Perfection, right?!?

Here’s the beautiful simple truth of my story.  It all started with a little post on Facebook.  I shared photos of my home and my certification process with HRS. I made it known that I was ready to do design work in other spaces...and it all took off from there.  A high school acquaintance, who happened to be a real estate investor, saw my post and reached out.  We had coffee and before I knew it, I had designed and hosted TWENTY AirBnBs.  It was a wild ride!

Friend.  It’s as simple as that.  Share your work!  Put yourself out there...be clear about what you want and it will happen!  You never know who’s looking for EXACTLY what you’re offering.  In fact, I’m willing to bet that YOU are the answer to someone’s hopes and prayers.  What are you waiting for?  They’re waiting for you!

A Couple Tips:

TIP ONE: Take good photos.  I took pictures of my home with my phone.  But if you don’t feel confident that you’ll get good photos, reach out to a friend who dabbles in photography.  Or an actual photographer, for that matter.  Maybe you can do a trade?  You offer some design services in exchange for some beautiful photos of your home, a corner you’re proud of...anything you’ve designed!

SIDE NOTE:  If you’d rather not share photos of your home on social media, can you design a space in a friend or family member’s home and post those photos without tagging them?  Or maybe they’re ok with you sharing their space.  Get creative!  There are LOTS of ways to share what you can do!

TIP TWO: Make your intentions CLEAR.  I can’t stress this enough.  It’s great to share beautiful photos of what you can do...but you do have to make your intentions clear if you want this to turn into something more.  Ask your followers to share with friends or family members who may be interested in partnering with you!  Or maybe they know a realtor who would be willing to meet with you and help you network with real estate investors...you NEVER know who your friends and family know.  Make sure they know HOW they can best help you!
