Stately Indeed…the making of The Stately Dwelling
Hi there! Welcome! I’m so excited to share all about The Stately Dwelling! But before we get too far, I want to make sure you’ve had a chance to read all about the first townhome I designed in this four-plex: The Cozy Dwelling. It’s so fun to see the same exact floor plan designed in different ways.
The First Bedroom
But let’s start in the the first bedroom upstairs. This bed frame and the dresser in the next bedroom were there when I got there. So I found this dresser at a local flea market and I really loved the way it softened the sharp, modern lines of the bed. Yes, this space was definitely taking on a “stately” feel, but I wanted to create a homey feel in the space. And the warm color and softer lines of this dresser did just that. I inherited this framed picture as well, but loved the way it pulled the colors of this space together. As you can see, turquoise became the accent color throughout this townhome. The gold accents really made that stately statement I was going for.
The Second Bedroom.
The second bedroom needed a stately bed! I found this gold canopy style bed on Amazon and knew it was just right. The mattresses in both rooms were brand new, as well as the bed frames. I used the dresser that matched the bed in the other room so the two rooms had similar themes, but still felt distinct. A cozy rug, throw pillows, a bold comforter and wall decor that coordinated well with the feel throughout the townhome...these elements completed this room and it was ready to go! Notice that both bedrooms have a chair to sit on. A chair in a bedroom is a staple I try to incorporate in all my spaces.
A QUICK NOTE ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY: Friend, I am not a photographer. The owner of this space opted not to pay for professional photography and I adore him…but it really shows in these photos. I can’t stress enough the importance of good photos! I wish the beauty of this room was really captured well. My iPhone just didn’t do it justice. Investing in good photos for your AirBnB is CRUCIAL. Take a look at some of the photos in my other blog posts and you’ll see the stark contrast. Trust me…it’s worth the investment.
Little Spaces….are a BIG DEAL.
Bathrooms and kitchens. They sometimes get ignored...people seem to think that design elements are as important in these spaces. But I couldn’t disagree more! This is where you really drive the design home. When you incorporate the theme of your space into these two spots, you’re really setting yourself and your space apart. Don’t miss this opportunity, friend! Notice how the bathroom and kitchen in The Stately Dwelling have subtle design elements that echo what you see in the rest of the space? Little touches like this go a LONG way!
Dining + Living
The dining room table was another inherited piece, but it turned out to be a great fit with the overall design. Seating for four and a fun collage of things on the wall pulled it all together. The back porch was nicely completed with an outdoor table and chairs and this space was ready to go!
I used my handy-dandy checklist to make sure I had everything I needed for the guests I would host here. We listed the space on AirBnB and had our first guest in no time at all! This was another HUGELY successful AirBnB. The calendar was booked solid and we had amazing guest reviews. What an honor it was to be involved in the rebirth and restoration of this space.
There are two more townhomes in this four-plex! Stay tuned for the next post where I’ll share all the fun details of The Vintage Dwelling! Fun, colorful and BRIGHT! It was the second colorful space I did and it was a blast!
